According to Arab America Foundation, a Washington D.C.-based non-profit, nearly four million Americans can trace their ethnicity to an Arab country.
The White House is also officially recognizing this opportunity to recognize the achievements and diverse contributions of Arab Americans to the United States overall.
National Arab American Heritage Month was first recognized on the federal level by President Joe Biden in April 2021.
According to the the Arab American Institute, recognition of this month should provide moments of reflection on the challenges Arab Americans face and a pivot away from discrimination and exclusion.
