The National School Public Relations Association announced the winners of the 2023 Golden Achievement Awards and the 2023 Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards, and the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is a proud recipient of three national awards.
A record number 1,800+ entries were submitted across both of NSPRA's award programs from local education agencies across the country this year.
NSPRA's Golden Achievement Award recognizes outstanding, strategic work in all aspects of public relations, communication, marketing and engagement. NSPRA's Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards recognize education publications, e-newsletters, digital media programs, radio/TV/video programs, podcasts, social media, infographics, blogs and websites.
The district was honored with a Golden Achievement Award for is comprehensive strategic communications plan on Vision 2025: School Reconfiguration and Consolidation of Our Schools. In the Publications and Digital Media award program, MPUSD received an Award of Excellence in the category social media for its Why MPUSD video series highlighting teachers, staff and students; and an Award of Merit in the marketing publications category for its 2022 districtwide mailer featuring the district's progress in the 2021-2022 school year.
This work honors the district and its success and exemplifies MPUSD's focus on communication, information and transparency. Earlier this year, the district received 11 awards for work on impactful initiatives across the school district from the California School Public Relations Association. The Communications department includes three team members, including Chief of Communications Marci McFadden, Communications Specialist Marissa Schwartz, and Graphic Designer/Administrative Assistant Isai Ogarrio-Martinez.
Winning entries will be recognized during NSPRA's National Seminar in July 2023, and spotlighted in the association's member e-newsletters in the coming year.
