The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District's popular Saturday Academy returns on Saturday, September 23, 2023, for most school sites.
Back in the day, many relate "Saturday School" as an alternative to discipline, when in fact MPUSD's Saturday Academy is an enriching and fun opportunity to support a student's learning with credentialed teachers who offer engaging and inspiring lessons. It is also an excellent opportunity for students who need to clear a full day absence to attend and achieve perfect attendance status during the school year.
Missing a few days of school can affect a student's academic success, and Saturday Academy is a chance for students to make up lost instruction time, catch up on what they missed, and receive help from a teacher.
If a student wishes to participate, a parent or guardian must sign an automated permission slip through ParentSquare to attend Saturday Academy. Each school site will send out notices about their upcoming Saturday Academy, as well as the digital permission slip that also asks if a child wishes to receive a free breakfast.
