The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District offers short-term independent study for students who may have to miss as little as one day and up to 15 days of school during the school year. If you know in advance of an upcoming missed absence or even an extended leave of absence, this program is ideal for your student.
The school site will complete a contract with the parents and assign curriculum to be completed by their agreed return date. It is important to request this program and curriculum at a minimum between three to five days in advance. If you know months in advance, that is preferred so that the school site can gather assignments for your child.
