As we dive into the new academic year, the Monterey schools in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District are collaborating with local agencies to host Vital Drug Awareness events in September. We proudly announce a series of impactful events to address drug awareness with a special focus on prevention, and conveying an understanding of the impact of drugs and its effects on our lives.
Beginning in mid-September, all Monterey community schools have partnered to create a coordinated series of gatherings to involve key people in the community. In-person events for students will be held at La Mesa School, Monte Vista TK-8 School, and Monterey High School on September 9th and 11th. This includes a special live-streamed event at Monterey High School which will include a panel composed of experts on prevention as well as families impacted by drugs.
The in-person MPUSD Parent/Guardian Drug Education Night will be held the evening of September 10, 2024, at 6 pm at Monte Vista TK-8 School in Monterey. This event is open to the community.
This work is being done in partnership with the Prescribe Safe program and Montage Health.
MPUSD intends to host similar collaborations for Marina and Seaside schools in the near future.
