Computer Science Education Week | December 9 - 15, 2024

Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) is an annual call to action that inspires students from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade to explore computer science, promotes equitable access to computer science education, and celebrates the contributions of students, teachers, and partners to this ever-evolving field.

Every December, CSEdWeek shines a spotlight on the importance of computational thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, equipping young minds for the tech-driven world of tomorrow.

This year’s theme, "Looking Back, Leaping Forward," marks the 20th anniversary of the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA). This theme perfectly encapsulates the spirit of CSEdWeek, emphasizing the importance of reflecting on past achievements while inspiring the next generation to move boldly into new technological horizons.

Founded in 2009 by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and other influential groups, CSEdWeek was established to raise awareness about the need to elevate computer science education and to underscore the critical role of computing skills across all careers.

At MPUSD, our educational services department is committed to providing access to computer science experiences across all grade levels, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to explore and build foundational skills in this pivotal field.

Our goal is to cultivate computational thinkers, creative problem solvers, and future innovators, preparing our students to thrive in a tech-centered world. As we celebrate CSEdWeek, we honor not only the students and teachers who engage in computer science but also the community partners and advocates who help make these opportunities possible.

Together, we’re building a future where every student can explore, create, and excel in computer science, both today and in the years to come.
