Important Alert for Families: Be Aware of Scams
We want to make you aware of a scam circulating in Monterey County. Families have reported receiving fraudulent phone calls from individuals falsely claiming to represent the Monterey County Office of Education and/or other school districts or school agencies. These callers allege truancy issues and demand $3,000 to avoid jail time.
To protect yourself:
- Verify any claims by contacting your child's school or the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District.
- Never provide financial or personal information to unsolicited callers.
- Report suspicious calls to local authorities, your school, or MPUSD.
