Seaside Middle School participated in the 2024-2025 34th Annual Monterey County History Day on March 15, 2025, hosted by the Lyceum of Monterey County at Los Arboles Middle School. This year’s theme was Rights and Responsibilities.
National History Day, is a year-long educational program that encourages students to explore local, state, national, and world history. After selecting a historical topic that relates to an annual theme, students conduct extensive research by using libraries, archives, museums, and oral history interviews. They analyze and interpret their findings, draw conclusions about their topics' significance in history, and create final projects that present their work. These projects can be entered into a series of competitions, from the local to the national level, where they are evaluated by historians and educators. Students can compete in the following categories:
paper, exhibit, performance, documentary, website, podcast, or 4/5th grade poster.
Students participated in Seaside Middle School's History Day Flex Elective and worked tirelessly throughout this year to complete and showcase their projects. They deserve huge recognition for their efforts to go above and beyond in order to make their projects successful!
This year, Seaside Middle has both county winners, who will advance to the State Competition at Sacramento State University in May, and special award winners.
