Our Pathways

PATHWAY REQUIREMENTS

The MPUSD Independent Study Program 9th-12th grade offers two different pathways. Each designed for the individual needs of our students.

Self-Directed Learner Pathway

This model is designed for students who are self-motivated and can manage their learning with minimal daily oversight. Students will complete their coursework through an online platform and will be required to meet with their assigned teacher once per week for 30–60 minutes (based on individual need) via virtual conferencing. These check-ins will focus on academic progress, clarification of content, and goal setting.

Guided Learner Pathway

This option is designed for students who may benefit from a more structured interaction. In addition to using the same online platform, students will be required to attend two in-person support sessions per week. During these sessions, students will meet with their teacher to review academic progress, receive assistance with their work, and participate in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) activities that promote well-being, engagement, and a sense of community.
